Odevare

is een 3 koppige band bestaand uit multi-instrumentalisten Ide Cornelissen, Pieter Wattel en Michiel Dutilh. Ze hebben elkaar ontmoet tijdens hun studie aan het conservatorium in Utrecht.

Met viool, mandoline, gitaar, contrabas, toetsen en vocalen onderzoeken ze wat het geluid van de nieuwe Nederlandse folk is. Met als uitvalsbasis Utrecht nemen we je mee met eigenwijze instrumentale stukken en oprechte, beeldende liedjes die een wereld schetsen in pastelkleuren, waar de randjes even wat minder scherp zijn en je even op adem kan komen.

De muziek is zeer dansbaar, vol energie en meeslepend. Spelen voor dansers is een van de leukste dingen om te doen. Vandaar dat we graag op Balfolk evenementen spelen, en ook op bruiloften, festivals en andere feesten. Ceilidh hoort daar natuurlijk ook bij.
We halen inspiratie uit veel verschillende hoeken van de Europese en Ierse folk en houden van het vinden van nieuwe invloeden om in hun repertoire te verwerken. Naast onze eigen composities waarin we deze invloeden verwerken spelen we ook traditionals, uit Ierland, Schotland, Zweden, Denemarken, Frankrijk, België, Engeland, en Nederland. En begint ook materiaal uit de Balkan en Zuid-Europa zijn weg te vinden in onze optredens.

Wij geloven dat livemuziek iets bijzonders is, een mogelijkheid om te verbinden en elkaar te vinden, contact maken, de boel op stelten zetten en samen een feestje bouwen. Mocht je dat doel met ons delen, laat van je horen en stuur ons een bericht!

Odevare

is a 3-piece band consisting of multi-instrumentalists Ide Cornelissen, Pieter Wattel and Michiel Dutilh. They met during their studies at the conservatory in Utrecht.

With violin, mandolin, guitar, double bass, keys and vocals they investigate what the sound of the new Dutch folk is. With Utrecht as our base, we take you along with yidiosyncratic instrumental pieces and sincere, visual songs that sketch a world in pastel colors, where the edges are a little less sharp and you can catch your breath.

The music is very danceable, full of energy and compelling. Playing for dancers is one of the most fun things to do. That's why we like to play at Balfolk events, and also at weddings, festivals and other parties. Ceilidh is of course also part of this.
We draw inspiration from many different corners of European and Irish folk and love finding new influences to incorporate into their repertoire. In addition to our own compositions in which we incorporate these influences, we also play traditionals from Ireland, Scotland, Sweden, Denmark, France, Belgium, England, and the Netherlands. And material from the Balkans and Southern Europe is also starting to find its way into our performances.
